The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) has issued a DRAFT Behavior Intervention and Treatment (56U) Billing Guidance. We recognize that the proposed guidance has the potential to significantly impact both providers and individuals receiving services.

ILABA will be preparing formal comments on behalf of our membership and will be requesting a meeting with IDHS to discuss the guidance in greater detail. Our goal is to engage collaboratively with IDHS to ensure that any finalized guidance supports high-quality, ethical services while also promoting responsible and effective use of 56U funds.

We encourage ILABA members and behavior analysts in the state to get involved by:

  • Share your comments with ILABA on this Google Form. This data will be used to develop ILABA’s comment.
  • Submit questions and/or comments on this DRAFT directly to IDHS at DHS.DDDComments@illinois.gov with “Behavior Intervention and Treatment (56U) Billing Guidance” in the subject line.

We look forward to partnering with IDHS in developing clear, feasible guidelines that align with best practices and meet the needs of individuals, families, and providers across Illinois.

Sincerely,

Jamine Dettmering, PhD, LBA, BCBA
